MCS Launch Nationwide Audit of Installations
29th April 2019
National certification scheme, MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) has launched a nationwide campaign of independent site audits to evaluate how customer protection is being assured.
The project, launching at the end of April comes as MCS strengthens compliance and enforcement to help build consumer confidence in microgeneration technology.
The audits will assist with monitoring compliance of MCS standards, assessing the effectiveness of standards and reviewing how these support the consumer journey as well as reviewing technical compliance.
MCS is a nationally recognised quality assurance scheme, supported by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). It provides the framework for the certification of microgeneration technologies used to produce electricity and heat from low carbon sources.
Over the coming months, hundreds of site-based audits will be carried out across the country by GTEC Training Ltd, experienced leaders in this field with a demonstrable record of thousands of site visits on renewable and conventional technologies over the years.
Griff Thomas, MD of GTEC Training Ltd said: “We are delighted to have been selected for this important project and look forward to providing a valuable insight into the installation work carried out on site for the certification scheme.”
Ben Howe, Compliance and Enforcement Manager of MCS said: “MCS aims to be the best it can be; protecting consumers and driving up standards in the industry. This project demonstrates our proactive approach and commitment to quality assurance.
“The audit results will not only highlight best practice, but also any deviations from written standards. Once complete, it will help shape enforcement activity moving forward whilst also contributing to the development of standards. We look forward to working with GTEC Training Ltd who bring an unrivalled level of expertise on site audits.”
