An introduction to the updated MCS Heat Pump Calculator (V1.10) – webinar 1 of 4
Thursday 6th May, 12.30pm – 1.30pm
MCS have launched an updated Heat Pump Calculator for MCS certified installers with this latest version containing various improvements to the functionality of the tool.
Join MCS Scheme Support Officer Steve as he gives an introductory whistle-stop tour of the updated MCS heat loss calculator followed by a live Q&A.
Room by room heat loss calculation is a fundamental part of understanding the heating requirements of a building and the correct specification of a heat pump system. Understanding the terminology and the application of the MCS Heat Pump Calculator will assist contractors in correctly sizing a heat pump based heating system.
This webinar will include a short overview of basic heat loss concepts and terminology, terminology specific to the calculator and guidance on usage/completion of the heat loss elements of the calculator.
MCS Heat Pump Calculator: How to correctly specify heat emitters – webinar 2 of 4
Thursday 20th May, 12.30pm – 1.30pm
When installing a heat pump, the use of existing radiators can be problematic without careful consideration. Correctly specifying the heat emitters, be they convector radiators or Underfloor Heating (UFH) circuits, against the calculated room heat losses for given operating conditions is crucial to ensuring correct heating performance.
Join MCS Scheme Support Officer Steve as he demonstrates using the MCS calculator for contrasting the use of traditional panel convector radiators and UFH circuits in high temperature heating with their use in low temperature heat pumps. The importance of delta T, correction factors and the impact on physical size as well as considering weather compensation.
The webinar will finish with a live Q&A.
MCS Heat Pump Calculator: Correctly locating a heat pump to comply with Building Regs. – webinar 3 of 4
Thursday 3rd June, 12.30pm – 1.30pm
Compliance with Building Regulations is a mandatory requirement for heat pump installations. Noise is considered a form of pollution and Local Authorities have a duty of care to investigate instances brought to their attention. Whilst heat pumps are generally very quiet, certain installation conditions can amplify their impact. Understanding basic concepts of sound, its transmission and the application of MCS 020 Planning Standard will enable contractors to demonstrate that they have considered the potential environmental impact of noise from a heat pump installation.
Join MCS Scheme Support Officer Steve as he gives a brief overview of: Building Regulation requirements under Permitted Development Rights (PDR) in respect to the installation of heat pumps; terminology used in in the measurement of sound and the application of MCS 020 in determining the suitability of a proposed location for a heat pump.
The webinar will finish with a live Q&A.
MCS Heat Pump Calculator: GSHP/WSHP – Collector sizing – webinar 4 of 4
Thursday 17th June, 12.30pm – 1.30pm
Ground and water source collector specification and associated geology and hydrogeology of the local environment (thermal conductivity, extraction/abstraction rates etc) are critical to the performance of these types of heat pump and hence effective and efficient property heating.
Join MCS Scheme Support Officer Steve as he gives a brief overview of terminology used and application of the calculator to ground loop specification, referring to MIS 3005 and supporting guidance documents.
The webinar will finish with a live Q&A.
